An unusual and select double ended sterling silver scent bottle with a glass liner. The bottle has a spring loaded hinged top at one end, and a cork lined screw top at the other, the middle section is covered by an interwoven mesh of fine silver strands. The tops are engraved with ornate entwined initials, the spring top has an interesting engraved address "Mrs. E.E. Wheatley, 87 York Road, Lambeth" and the date "9th Nov.r 1884. Condition: small knock to the edge of the spring loaded top; one or two silver strands very slightly out of alignment; light dimpling to the screw top; nothing further found; lid fits are good. Silver hallmarked for London 1881, maker's mark "TJ" for Thomas Johnson, spring lid interior marked with a crown. Article measured in centimetres and rounded to the nearest quarter inch. Length 11.5cm/4.5in, diameter 2.5cm/1in.
