1883 Sampson Mordan cameo glass scent perfume bottle

An excellent cameo scent bottle with a sterling silver hinged top - the latter engraved with entwined initials 'MTZ' - silver collar and glass stopper. The olive-green body is masterfully carved in white with floral and leaf sprays between white bands above and below. Condition: tiny nick to the bottom base band; some dimpling to the sides of the silver top; light age and use wear; nothing further found; minor hinge play, good closure. Silver hallmarked for London 1883, maker's mark 'SM' for Sampson Mordan, glass probably by Thomas Webb. Article measured in centimetres and rounded to the nearest quarter inch. 7.5cm/3in high, 2.5cm/1in diameter.
