1899 bright cut sterling silver cylinder scent perfume bottle

SOLD. A large silver cylinder scent bottle, with a hinged top, glass liner and glass stopper. The bottle is bright cut all over with foliate and flower head scrollwork, the lid cartouche is engraved with conjoined initials. Condition: bump to one side of the under-base; minor dimpling to the lid; light surface age and use wear; nothing further found; hinge firm, very good closure. Silver hallmarked for Birmingham 1899, maker's mark 'GEW' for George Edwin Walton. Article measured in centimetres and rounded to the nearest quarter inch. Height 7.5cm/3in, diameter 4.5cm/2in.
