c.1820-40 FLORAL ENAMELLED GLASS OXFORD LAVENDER SCENT PERFUME BOTTLE

A good example of a scent bottle also known as a 'throwaway' or 'attar' bottle, with moulded bead edges. The bottle is hand enamelled on two sides with polychrome flower head and leaf sprays, the other sides are embellished with gilding. Condition: some rubbing to the decoration, mostly the gilt; light age and use wear; nothing further found; original stopper. Circa 1820-40. Article measured in centimetres and rounded to the nearest quarter inch. Height 19cm/7.5; width 1.5cm/0,75in.
