c.1880 ruby cabochon set double ended crystal scent perfume bottle

A splendid double ended cut crystal scent bottle, the one end with a spring loaded gilt metal cabochon mounted catch top, the other with a cork lined screw top. Both tops are set with a vacant cartouche framed by ruby cabochons. The body is cut with a hobnail and diamond pattern between parallel grooves. Condition: one or two very tiny nicks to high points, minor age and use wear; very minor rubbing to the gilt; nothing further found; good tight closures. Circa 1880, metal disk in the spring top stamped 'Bourne & Taylor' (specialist instrument makers). Article measured in centimetres and rounded to the nearest quarter inch. Width 14cm/5.5in, depth 3.5cm/1.25in.
