c.1900 four seasons enamelled beaker tumbler ranftbecher, signed Carl von Scheidt

An excellent facet cut beaker with a wavy rim and trumpet shape upper section on a flashed amber bun form lower section. The beaker is finely painted in the round with a figural depiction of the four seasons, the rim is embellished with a gilt and flashed amber band. Condition: rubbing to the gilt; minor rubbing to the enamel; minor age and use wear; nothing further found; indented and polished pontil. Signed 'C.v.S.pinx' for Carl von Scheidt (1790 - after 1834), however this beaker is probably later, circa 1900, and produced in Steinschönau. Article measured in centimetres and rounded to the nearest quarter inch. Height 10.5cm/4.25in, rim diameter 9cm/3.5in.
