c.1900 French brass scent perfume spray atomizer for letters

A most unusual and decorative silvered brass scent spray for perfuming letters, operated by removing the caps and blowing through the top tube. The bottle is decorated to one side with a figure of cupid blowing the spray, he stands within a cartouche surrounded by flower heads, on the other side is a high relief lady's hand holding a flower within an oval cartouche framed by foliate scrollwork. Condition: light surface age and use wear; nothing further found; bottle not tested for functionality. Circa 1890-1900, French, raised lettering on the base 'Breveté SGDG' for 'Breveté Sans Garantie Du Gouvernement' (patent without government guarantee). Dimensions based on centimetres and rounded to nearest quarter inch. Height 6cm/2.5in, width 3.5cm/1.5in.
