c.1905 Art Nouveau tray by Carl Luber for Johann von Schwarz



A striking and large Art Nouveau oval porcelain plaque set in a wavy edge and pierced yellow metal tray surround. The plaque features a female profile and poppy cluster on a deep blue ground. Condition: light surface and use wear to the plaque, light surface wear and minor oxidation to the metal; nothing further found. Circa 1905, the reverse with impressed works number 'SR' over '8934' plus additional painted marks 'A' over '6318' over '4'. Designed by Carl Luber for Johann von Schwarz, Nürnberg. Article measured in centimetres and rounded to the nearest quarter inch. Width including tray handles 51cm/20.25in, depth 37.5cm/15in, height 3.5cm/1.25in.
