c.1910 amethyst glass footed bowl, Diefenbach style figural decoration

A splendid deep amethyst footed bowl, the banded upper section hand decorated in the manner of Karl Wilhelm Diefenbach with a gilt frieze of running, dancing, and playing children in an outdoor setting, plus a dog and birds in flight. The rim, stem knop, and base are further embellished with gilt bands. Condition: light rubbing to the gilt; light surface age and use wear; nothing further found. Circa 1910, probably designed at the glass school in Steinschönau or Haida. Article measured in centimetres and rounded to the nearest quarter inch. Height 10.5cm/4.25in, diameter 9.5cm/3.75in.
