c.1930s Verlys France Glass Wings Bowl Charger, Pierre d'Avesn

Category: ANTIQUE GLASS, 1910 - 1950

An excellent and arresting satin finish glass charger, high relief moulded with four wings, compass points, stylised clouds, and central radiating design. Condition: stand wear to under-base points, some surface marks to the well; light wear; nothing further found; mould definition good. Circa 1930s, signed in the well with an indistinct 'Verlys France' moulded mark, also relief marked 'P' on 'A', the loop of the P creating a D that strongly suggests Pierre d'Avesn as the designer. Article measured in centimetres and rounded to the nearest quarter inch. Diameter 36.5cm/14.25in, height 6.5cm/2.75in, weight 2.78kg/6.13lb.
