Mid to later 18th century carved cocquilla nut scent perfume bottle

An excellent and rare cocquilla nut scent bottle with a silver pull-off top and triple chain. The nut is masterfully carved with a satyrs face, recumbent dog, leaves, foliage, and a flower head to the base. Condition: three small circular openings around the top finely filled with the original shell plugs (openings probably made to when fitting the silver top or when hollowing out the nut); light surface age and use wear; nothing further found. Mid to later 18th century, probably Germany or Holland, silver not hallmarked but tested. Article measured in centimetres and rounded to the nearest quarter inch. Height 3.5cm/1.25in, circa diameter 2.3cm/1in.
