An exceptional tall, ten facet cut deep amethyst vase, the cup shape bowl on a pedestal stem over a spreading base. The bowl is decorated with a wide acid etched frieze of gilded elephants among grasses, palm trees, distant mountains and birds. Condition: light rubbing to the gilt; light surface age and use wear; nothing further found. Circa 1920s-30s, unmarked but certainly Bohemian, possibly Goldberg or Harrach. Article measured in centimetres and rounded to the nearest quarter inch. Height 31.5cm/12.5in, diameter 12cm/4.75in, weight 2.1kg/4.6lb.
