REF: 5179

A splendid opalescent glass high relief moulded fish on a water ripple base. Condition: some stand wear to the under-base; minor wear; nothing further found. Circa 1934-39, stylus signed "Jobling's Opalique" and "reg. applied for". Further Opalique information: Following a failed attempt to to licence the production of Lalique and Sabino glass in the UK, Jobling commissioned moulds in France from Frankhauser, the leading Parisian mould maker. The wares were highly acclaimed, however, the expense of production, coupled with recession and turbulent times meant Opalique glass was only made for a short time between 1934-1939. Height 5.3cm/2in, width 8cm/3in, depth 2.5cm/1in.
