A striking Art Deco rectangular glass lid in a bespoke oak box. Known as "Der Mexikaner" (the Mexican), the detailed high relief moulded lid depicts a scenic view with a seated figure on the right smoking a pipe, he is set behind cacti and a pineapple, a large flowering tobacco plant covers the left half, mountains in the distance include an active volcano. Condition: light surface wear; nothing further found; box with internal curved runners is a bespoke copy of the type used for such lids. 1935-6, produced by Heinrich Hoffmann, designed by Alexander Pfohl, see "Ingrid, More Than Just a Brand" Petr Novy, MSB 2012, page 113.
