An excellent aqua green glass bowl, hand decorated in raised enamel with polychrome horse chestnuts and leaves. The bowl is mounted with a horse chestnut and leaf pattern silver plate rim band, and further plain band to the base. Condition: stand wear to the under-base; some rubbing to the silver plate; very minor rubbing to the decoration; light surface wear; nothing further found. Late C19th, the plate band stamped "VS" for French silversmith Victor Saglier (1809-1894), glass unmarked but almost certainly by Legras. Article measured in centimetres and rounded to the nearest quarter inch. Height 9.5cm/3.75in, rim diameter 20cm/8in.
