A striking WMF oval flower or fruit dish with a raised polychrome enamel glass liner. The basket and anthemion pattern container has whiplash iris handles and sits of flower head feet. The acid ground glass liner is hand decorated with iris and leaf sprays, the rim is embellished with a gilt band. Condition: some light surface wear and small amount of enamel rubbing to the liner, light rubbing to the stand plate; signs of silver polish residue to same; nothing further found. Circa 1920s-30s, under-base of the stand stamped "WMF", plus "M" for brass, "I/0" for normal plating thickness, and "as" for antique silver finish. Article measured in centimetres and rounded to the nearest quarter inch. Height 9.5cm/3.75in, width 44cm/17.5in, depth 16.5cm/6.5in.
