An exciting very large and heavy Art Deco black amethyst ovoid glass vase with a short neck and round base. The silvered decoration features two cartouches with dancing nude female figures, stylised floral, leaf and tendril decoration, and broad bands. Condition: rubbing and losses to the silver, the latter mostly to the neck bands (see images); some marking to the silver; small factory flaw on the rim; light surface wear; nothing further found. Circa 1930s, unmarked, quite possibly de Rupel Booms Glass, Belgium. Article measured in centimetres and rounded to the nearest quarter inch. Height 33cm/13in, width 22cm/8.75in, rim diameter 10cm/4in, weight 4.32kg/9.5lb.
