A striking violet-red rhomboid shape vase, relief moulded on four sides with geometric stripes, and on the other four faces with a basketball player in action on a stipple and ring ground. Condition: stand wear to the under-base; light age and use wear; nothing further found. Circa 1935, produced for the 1936 Berlin Olympics, designed by Charles Graffart and René Delvenne, base relief marked "VSL Belgique" . Article measured in centimetres and rounded to the nearest quarter inch. Height 22.5cm/8.75in, width 13cm/8.75in.
