A handsome square cut crystal dressing table bottle with matching square domed and waisted hinged silver top, silver collar, and long polished dauber stopper. The bottle has bevelled rectangular sides, the under-base is embellished with a twenty four point star. Condition: heavy stand wear to the under-base; one or two tiny prick dints to the edges and corners of the silver top; light age and use wear; minor interior bloom around the base area; nothing further found; hinge firm, good snap closure. Silver hallmarked for Birmingham 1938, maker's mark "JG&S" for George Unite & Sons, additional registration number "19273". Article measured in centimetres and rounded to the nearest quarter inch. Height 13.5cm/5.5in, width 6cm/2.5in.
