A splendid cut glass waisted scent bottle, with a silver embossed hinged top, silver collar, and glass stopper. The bottle is hand decorated in translucent red enamel with a dog, horse, floral elements, and scrollwork. Condition: some rubbing to the decoration; one or two tiny nicks to high points; light surface age and use wear; nothing further found; hinge firm, good closure. Circa 1860-70, hallmarked with a Dutch sword mark and maker's or town mark "V", the latter with additional symbols. Article measured in centimetres and rounded to the nearest quarter inch. Height 12cm/4.75in.
