A charming miniature porcelain scent bottle, with a silver gilt hinged top, the latter with suspensory mount, and glass peg stopper. The black ground bottle has scalloped edges and features two oval medallions, the front hand painted with a floral spray, the back with a female figure in regal costume, the bottle is further enhanced with gilt scrollwork. Condition: some rubbing to the gilt; light surface age and use wear; nothing further found, hinge firm, good closure. Circa 1870, French, top hallmarked with a boar's head. Height including ring 3.5cm/1.38in, diameter 2cm/0.79in.
