A very elegant double gourd crystal dressing table bottle, with a ball shape sterling silver screw top, silver screw collar, and glass stopper. The body is cut with hobnails and diamonds between parallel lines, the base is embellished with a thirty two point star. Condition: stand wear to the under-base, some tiny nicks to high points and edges; light wear commensurate with age; nothing further found; good screw closure. Silver hallmarked for London 1886, maker's mark "S.M." for Sampson Mordan, plus retailer's address "Thornhill & Co. Bond Street W", the under-base with stylus registry number "51026".
