An unusual and pleasing onion dome shape damascene scent bottle in a three legged yellow metal stand. The bottle has a crescent and double waist gilt metal screw top, and is finely decorated in gold with detailed Egyptian figures, priests, deities, a table with offerings, two large flying scarab beetles, hieroglyphs, and a frieze of birds around the base. Condition: light bump to a corner of the base rim; light surface age and use wear; nothing further found - if you have any questions about this item, contact me. Early 20th century, probably 1920s-30s, Japanese, "Mount Fuji and Fence" maker's mark to the base - according to other pieces seen with this mark, the symbol forms the Japanese letter for well (as in water, wishing). Article measured in centimetres and rounded to the nearest quarter inch. Height including stand 14cm/5.75in.
