A fine silver cylinder scent bottle, with a hinged top - the latter engraved with entwined initials - and glass stopper. The body is masterfully engraved in the round with a stag and chasing hound in a wooded landscape. Condition: light surface age and use wear; nothing further found; light hinge play, good snap closure. Silver hallmarked for London 1881, maker's mark "SM" for Sampson Mordan (external marks rubbed, very good mark to the inside of the lid). Height 5.5cm/2in.
