An exceptional lightly tapered glass scent bottle with a gilt metal screw top, scrollwork pattern gilt metal neck mount, suspensory chain, and glass stopper. The bottle has two hand painted panels, one featuring a couple in Rococo dress in an outdoor setting, the other depicting two men in a rocky setting approaching a chapel, both panels are framed with gilt outlines, the sides are embellished with gilt leaf sprays. Condition: surface haze to the bottle interior; light rubbing to the enamel; light wear; nothing further found. Circa 1790, German or Austrian. Height 13cm/5.25in, width 3cm/1.25in, depth 2cm/0.75in.
