An excellent cylinder form scent bottle, with a hinged top, patterned silver gilt rim band, and glass stopper. The bottle is decorated in the round with polychrome enamels and features a young couple in a rural setting. Condition: top somewhat out of true when closed (see image); minor rubbing to the silver gilt; light surface wear; nothing further found; light hinge play but good closure. Circa 1870, hallmarked with a boar's head in two places. Article measured in centimetres and rounded to the nearest quarter inch. 7.5cm/3in high.
