A delightful cylinder form scent bottle, with a hinged top, silver gilt mount, and glass stopper. The bottle is decorated in the round with polychrome enamels and features a cherub in a rural setting observing a butterfly while water pours from a gourd to the ground, the top and bottom are painted with a continuation of the scene. Condition: some rubbing to the gilt; light surface wear; nothing further found; hinge firm, good closure. Circa 1870, hallmarked with a boar's head. 5.7cm/2.25in high, 1.7cm/0.67in diameter.
