A rare miniature porcelain scent bottle, formed and hand decorated as a realistic speckled bird's egg. The bottle has a cork lined silver chick's head screw top and silver screw collar. Condition: light age and use wear to the bottle; nothing further found; good screw closure. Circa 1880, base of the bottle with painted registry number "20772" assigned to James Macintyre, Washington China Works, Burslem, silver not hallmarked but tested for purity. Article measured in centimetres and rounded to the nearest quarter inch. Height 3.5cm/1.25in.
