An excellent transfer printed tile in darker blue on ivory-white, featuring a pointer startled by a grouse on a moor. Condition: small claw marks to edges from a dreaded spring clip plate hanger; some surface wear; slight offset to the transfer; nothing further found. Circa 1880, from the six tile "Game Dog" series, pattern no. T291, back of the tile relief marked "Josiah Wedgwood and Sons, Etruria". Framed ready for hanging. 22.5cm/9in square including frame.
